KCon started out when fans learned that Sherri makes a yearly pilgrimage to New Orleans to scout sites and revisit old friends from when she lived there. When they first said they'd like to come to, Sherri thought they were kidding. Then in 06 she put it to the test. She expected about 50 people to sign up. Over 1000 did in less than a day. Now the cap for KCon is held to 150 attendees so that Sherri can spend quality time with her fans.

K-Con always begins with a party and ends at Brennan's, a restaurant that Sherri used to walk past every day on her way to work at Jackson Brewery. Even though for years, she stared at it wishing she could afford to eat there, it wasn't until her publisher took her there in 2001 that her dream came true.

It's a dream she loves sharing with her fans. Brennan's really is an incredible experience and the Bananas Foster is to die for.

Factoid: In 2007 K-Con registration filled up in less than 20 minutes. In 2006, the 200 limit was filled in less than half an hour and over 800 people were put on the waiting list.

Fans routinely attend from countries as diverse as the West Indies, the UK, Germany, France, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Norway, Finland and Italy.

During KCon, Sherri routinely holds charity auctions to help the people of New Orleans as they rebuild their community. There's even a scene in Ash's book where he's working on a house for Habitat for Humanity. When Katrina hit, Sherri was never prouder of her fans who donated thousands of dollars to the Red Cross in the name of Nick Gautier, one of the Dark-Hunter characters who grew up in New Orleans and who takes his name from Gautier, MS-- one of the towns hit hard by the hurricane.
